Slimmer this Summer

I'm looking to try and lose some weight so I'm going to be starting the Slimmer this Summer challenge. I'm not doing anything over the top, just trying to get myself back into the good habits that I know make me feel better.

The challenge starts tomorrow, so for the record my goals are:

Keep calories at 12-1400 a day
Drink 8 glasses of water a day
Try and get a min. of 5 fruit/veg a day
Stop buying unhealthy food while at work

I'm not setting any exercise goals at the moment, I walk to/from the train station 5 days a week for my work commute, and I can't sit down at my job, so I'm getting my minimum in. I am toying with the idea of getting a pedometer to check how much I'm actually doing though, it may be less than I think. I'll have a look through Amazon and see how much a good one will set me back.

  1. Followed your link from Debbi's Slimmer This Summer post. I'm looking forward to getting to know you this summer and celebrating our success.:-)

  2. I'm excited to see you in the challenge. My first challenge that I actually lost weight was ours last summer, so this is like Summer Slimmin' part deux. :)

Let's do it! Healthy weight, here we come!

  3. And can you believe it's been a year, A YEAR, already?????? I'm stunned it passed so fast...

  4. I got a pedometer at Wal-mart for $5 and it works just fine. It just measures either steps or distance. I didn't need one that cooked breakfast or played the Star Spangled Banner. Sometimes we pay for more than we need!! 10,000 steps is the goal that I read about for health.

  5. I bought a new Omron Pedometer for $19.99, it tracks cardio steps too and how many calories you burned. If you're on your feet all day you will be amazed at how many steps you take.

  6. I keep a bowl of fruit at my desk and those small bags of peanuts in my purse, so if I crave a snack I don't head for the vending machine and buy a candy bar. Not sitting down at work would help a lot, you got this! The pedometer won't set you back much and seeing the numbers might be extra motivation. Best of luck to you!

  7. Hi this is Nicole from Colie’s Kitchen! I am doing the Summer Slim Down Challenge also and saw your blog posted on Debbi does dieting. I wanted to drop by and say hi. I am your newest follower! Good luck with week one!! I would love to have you drop by

  8. The not buying junk food at work will help a lot! Try to figure out some regular exercise if you can, just be conscious to moving as much as possible. So how much weight are you hoping to lose? If you stay within those calorie limits, you should do well!

  9. Drinking all that water is going to be my hurdle...along with no candy, cake, cookies, ice cream...LOL

    Good luck!

  10. Like your blog...I do love Adele. What a set of pipes! I think you need to come up with some pretty fabulous snacks to take to work. I know the feeling...hard to deal with temptation away from home.

    Good luck from another STS'er!

  11. Yes, et a pedometer. I use mine (on my ipHone) every day.

Glad to see you are in the slimmer this summer challenge, too. Together we can do this. Best of luck to you. Michele at
